I read a report that the Baltimore Ravens are trying out Kyle Boller. Steelers fans should fondly remember the bumbling former first round pick who ESPN commentator Chris Berman called “Kyle I should have been a bowler.”
Baltimore drafted him in 2003. He was 20-22 as a starter, according to ESPN statistics.
And Steelers fans should like the fact that the Ravens might bring him back. Maybe some of Boller will rub off on starter Joe Flacco.
The Ravens are also auditioning Steelers free agent backup Dennis Dixon. If Dixon leaves, Pittsburgh should draft a young quarterback to sit the bench behind Ben Roethlisberger. They have glass men Byron Leftwich and Charlie Batch holding the backup role now. They are good when healthy — but their health is never guaranteed.
I am thinking a fourth round or later pick should go to a prospect QB.
