Bad attitude in the Maple City

The following post was added on dailyamerican.com following an article about Meyersdale Renaissance’s nonexistence.

Perhaps a robust tourism economy is unrealistic. But a safe, friendly town is inexpensive and achievable if the general public buys into the idea first. Enough people with sentiments like the below post are more dangerous to a town than a horde of drug dealers.

” The reason you have to close is not because a lot of non-profits are making cutbacks; you have to close because it was a horrible idea to start with. The town of Meyersdale has not, nor will it ever be, improved.

As it stands right now, Meyersdale is a mess. The parking is messed up, the curbs extend into the streets, and there was so much money wasted on attempts to attract tourism to a town that the residents don’t want to stay in. We should be realistic about Meyersdale. Who wants to come to this town? No one. What does the town offer? Nothing. Does this town have a future? No.

The only accomplishment in Meyersdale has been leveling the sidewalks so the drug addicts and drunks don’t trip. That’s what Meyersdale is known for: Drugs. That’s the reputation of Meyersdale, not a nice, clean, friendly town to raise a family and retire in. Deny these claims if you want, but why did you fail, I mean close? “
